Who is a food chemist? And why you need one

Food Chemist

Food chemists are professionals in the course/field of Food chemistry.
Food chemistry deals with the production, processing, distribution, preparation, evaluation, and utilization of food.

Food chemists work with plants that have been harvested for food, and animals that have been slaughtered for food. Food chemists are concerned with how these food products are processed, prepared, and distributed. For example, to address consumer demands, some food chemists are involved with finding fat and sugar substitutes that do not alter food taste and texture. The food substances include such items as meat, poultry, lettuce, beer, and milk as examples. It is similar to biochemistry in its main components such as carbohydrates, lipids, and protein, but it also includes areas such as water, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, food additives, flavors, and colors.

The need for a food chemist are numerous:

FOOD CHEMISTS ARE NUTRITIONISTS:

With the knowledge of chemistry, food science and little of biology, food chemists are very well grounded with the basics of food nutrition. A food chemist carries out research on your behalf to ascertain the nutritional values and the best type of food to eat to at every given stage in life.

FOOD CHEMISTS ARE MASTERS OF RECIPE OR FOOD ENTHUSIAST:

Now I know someone would want to knock me off for saying this, but don't just gasp yet.
Like the saying goes "Only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches". Food chemists are directly involved in the food processing process. During this process (depending on their interest or position) recommends the type of flavour to be used, the quality, taste and smell of the ingredients.
This helps them to distinguish between low quality cooking ingredients/products from high quality products.
This gives the food chemists that extra-edge of determining which food is best and healthy for anyone in any stage or level of life. Be it old or young, boy or girl, fat or slim, short or tall.

FOOD CHEMISTS ARE HEALTH AMBASSADORS:

A food chemist advices and direct you on how to use certain ingredients, products and food generally. He issues warning and threat for bad products and recommends nice and acceptable ones to the public. A food chemist is like a watch-dog for food related issues, of course food is his business.
